Gille Havrekakor are traditional Swedish oat cookies, a staple of the Swedish 'fika' coffee break culture. The brand was founded in the 1960s by baker Tord Einarsson at his café, Kafé Gillet, in Örkelljunga, Sweden. The popularity of his recipes led to the brand's national and later international expansion.
Today, the products are primarily manufactured at two bakeries in Åsljunga and Örkelljunga, Southern Sweden, maintaining their heritage of using high-quality Swedish oats. The brand has transitioned through several owners over the decades, being acquired by Continental Bakeries in 2008 and eventually becoming part of Biscuit International in 2022.
As of 2026, the brand is under the ultimate ownership of Platinum Equity, a global investment firm that oversees Biscuit International. Despite these changes in corporate ownership, Gille remains deeply rooted in its Swedish origins, consistently featuring the Swedish flag on its packaging to signify its domestic production and traditional recipes.
