Sorel is a premium footwear brand known for its durable, winter-ready boots and stylish all-season footwear. The brand was founded in 1962 in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, where it originally gained a reputation for manufacturing high-quality cold-weather boots capable of withstanding extreme temperatures.

Following the bankruptcy of its original parent company, Kaufman Footwear, in 2000, Sorel was acquired by Columbia Sportswear Company. Under Columbia's ownership, the brand's headquarters transitioned to Portland, Oregon, USA. While the brand’s design and innovation roots remain in North America, manufacturing is now conducted through a global network of partners, primarily in Asia, including Vietnam and China, to meet international demand.

Today, Sorel operates as a major subsidiary of Columbia Sportswear. It has successfully expanded from a utilitarian work-boot brand into a fashion-forward footwear label that combines functionality with high-end design, offering products ranging from waterproof sandals to high-traction winter boots.
