Scorpio NGSI-LD Broker

Scorpio is a high-performance, open-source context broker that is fully compliant with the ETSI NGSI-LD standard. It was developed to facilitate the management of context information for smart solutions, such as smart cities, industrial IoT, and agricultural data management. The software allows different entities to share and discover context data in a standardized way.

The development of Scorpio originated as a collaborative effort within the Research and Development departments of NEC. Specifically, it was designed and built by engineers at NEC Laboratories Europe in Germany and NEC Technologies India. Because it is a software product maintained on platforms like GitHub, its 'manufacturing' or development occurs across these international hubs.

As a FIWARE Generic Enabler, Scorpio is part of the FIWARE ecosystem, which promotes open standards for smart digital solutions. However, the ultimate intellectual and corporate owner of the original codebase is the NEC Corporation, a Japanese multinational information technology and electronics company headquartered in Tokyo. Today, it remains one of the leading brokers for organizations implementing large-scale linked data architectures.
