Campofrío is one of Europe's leading processed meat brands, specializing in a wide range of ham, sausage, and charcuterie products. The brand traces its roots back to 1952 in Burgos, Spain, where its first meat processing plant was established. Moving forward through the decades, it grew from a local Spanish favorite into a major international player through strategic mergers and acquisitions, eventually becoming the centerpiece of the Campofrío Food Group.
Today, the brand is under the ultimate ownership of the Mexican multinational Sigma Alimentos. This acquisition, finalized around 2014-2015, integrated Spanish meat-processing expertise with a global distribution network. Manufacturing remains heavily concentrated in Spain to maintain the authenticity of products like Jamón Serrano and Chorizo, though the group also operates extensive production facilities across several other European countries such as Portugal, France, and Romania to serve regional markets effectively.
