Mentos is a world-renowned brand of pre-packaged scotch mints and chewing gum. The brand's journey began in 1932 in the Netherlands, when brothers Michael and Pierre van Melle conceived the idea for a peppermint-flavored caramel candy while on a train trip to Poland. This innovation led to the birth of the original Mentos, which was later marketed with the iconic "Freshmaker" campaign in the 1990s.

Today, Mentos is manufactured in numerous locations worldwide to satisfy global demand, with major production facilities in the Netherlands, China, Brazil, and several other regions. Innovation continues to drive the brand, expanding from the classic mint rolls into a vast array of fruit flavors and sugar-free chewing gum options.

The brand is currently owned and managed by Perfetti Van Melle, a global confectionery and gum giant formed in 2001 through the merger of the Italian Perfetti group and the Dutch Van Melle company. Headquartered in both Italy and the Netherlands, the group remains one of the largest confectionery manufacturers in the world, maintaining the Mentos legacy of freshness and variety.
