Microsoft Power BI software

Microsoft Power BI is a prominent business analytics service that provides interactive visualizations and business intelligence capabilities with an interface simple enough for end users to create their own reports and dashboards.

The tool was originally designed by Thierry D'Hers and Amir Netz of the SQL Server Reporting Services team at Microsoft in the United States. It was first released to the public in September 2013 as Power BI for Office 365, based on Microsoft Excel add-ins such as Power Pivot, Power View, and Power Query.

Today, Power BI remains a core component of the Microsoft Power Platform, developed and owned exclusively by Microsoft Corporation. As a cloud-native and software-as-a-service (SaaS) product, its infrastructure is primary based in the United States, utilizing global data regions via Microsoft Azure.
