Eddie blue

Eddie is a specialized retro-style AI-powered command-line interface (CLI) assistant. It was developed primarily as an educational resource to demonstrate the capabilities of the Mirascope library for building real-world AI applications. The software is designed with a personality inspired by the character Eddie the Shipboard Computer from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, featuring a distinct blue-themed retro Textual interface.

Originally created by the team at Mirascope, the project is open-source and hosted on GitHub. It is built using Python and leverages advanced language models, specifically the GPT-4o model from OpenAI, to provide multi-turn chat capabilities, user memory for personalization, and tool-use agents. The project follows an open-contribution model, encouraging developers to submit pull requests and participate in the development of its AI features.

As an open-source tool, Eddie is maintained by the Mirascope community and its founding developers. While it is currently configured to run with OpenAI's proprietary models, the roadmap for the project includes full support for local, open-source large language models (LLMs) to allow for completely private and offline execution on personal hardware.
