Viña Real is a prestigious brand with deep roots in the Rioja Alavesa region of Spain. Launched in the 1920s by the Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España (CVNE), it was one of the first brands to merge the traditional crianza methods of Bordeaux with the character of the Rioja grapes. The name pays homage to its proximity to the old 'Camino Real' (Royal Road).
The wine is exclusively produced in Spain, specifically at the Viña Real winery in Laguardia, which is renowned for its iconic architecture—a giant wooden vat-shaped building. The brand remains under the ownership of CVNE, a historic family-controlled group that has been a cornerstone of Spanish winemaking since its foundation in Haro in 1879. Today, CVNE continues to manage the brand as a premium global representative of modern Rioja wines.
