Sünner Kölsch

Sünner Kölsch is a traditional German beer brand with deep roots in Cologne. Founded in 1830, Sünner is recognized as the oldest Kölsch brewery in the world. The brand represents a specific protected geographical indication, meaning it can only be brewed in and around the city of Cologne.

In early 2022, the brand underwent a significant ownership change when the Brauerei zur Malzmühle (most famous for Mühlen Kölsch) acquired the Sünner brewery in Cologne-Kalk. Production was consolidated to the Kalk location, which is now operated as the Brauwelt Köln. Despite the change in ownership, the brand maintains its historical identity and continues to be manufactured exclusively in Cologne, Germany, adhering to the strict Kölsch Konvention standards.
