Piadina

Piadina is a thin, unleavened Italian flatbread typically associated with the Romagna region. While it is widely available as a commercial packaged product in supermarkets, the most authentic experience is found in specialized shops known as 'Piadinerie'. Unlike many global food products, Piadina is not owned by a single conglomerate; it is a traditional regional specialty protected by PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) status in many cases to ensure its authentic origin and recipe.

Production remains concentrated in Italy, specifically within the provinces of Forlì-Cesena, Ravenna, Rimini, and part of Bologna. The brand landscape is fragmented, consisting of thousands of family-owned kiosks and several large industrial players like C.R.M. or Alimenta which supply the retail market. The product represents a cultural heritage of the Emilia-Romagna region, maintaining its status as a staple of Italian street food traditions.
