Pripps Blå is one of Sweden's most iconic and popular beer brands, frequently associated with the Swedish summer and the archipelago. The brand's history dates back to 1828 when Johan Albrecht Pripp founded the Pripps brewery in Gothenburg. Over nearly two centuries, the brand has evolved into a national staple, known for its light, crisp lager taste and distinctive blue and gold packaging featuring a classical sailing ship.
While originally an independent Swedish brewery, Pripps underwent several mergers, most notably with the Danish giant Carlsberg in 2000. Today, the brand is part of the Carlsberg Group's extensive portfolio. The production for the Swedish market takes place in Falkenberg, Sweden, at the Carlsberg Sverige brewery. Pripps Blå Lättöl specifically refers to the low-alcohol version (2.2% ABV), which is a common fixture in Swedish grocery stores and lunch restaurants.
