blend-a-med is a major German brand of toothpaste that was originally developed in 1951 by the company Blendax in Mainz. It became a household name in Germany for its medical-scientific approach to oral care. In 1987, the consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble acquired Blendax, incorporating blend-a-med into its global oral care portfolio alongside brands like Oral-B.
While the brand maintains its historical identity and strong presence in the DACH region, it is now part of a global manufacturing network. A significant portion of production remains in Germany (notably at the Gross-Gerau site), though P&G utilizes several facilities across Europe to meet regional demand. Under the stewardship of Procter & Gamble, blend-a-med has evolved from a local pharmaceutical product to a leading global brand known for advanced dental protection technologies.
