The brand was developed by the West Cork Distillers, an independent distillery founded in 2003 by three lifelong friends. While many global whiskey brands are owned by large multinational conglomerates, Seven Churches remains part of the portfolio of West Cork Distillers, which is one of the few significant Irish-owned independent distilleries. They operate out of Skibbereen, maintaining local ownership and production control.
