Braun is a globally recognized German consumer products company that has become a symbol of modernist industrial design. Founded in 1921 by Max Braun in Frankfurt, the brand initially specialized in radio components before revolutionizing the personal care market with its iconic electric foil shavers.

The brand's identity is deeply rooted in the 'functionalist' design movement, largely shaped by the legendary designer Dieter Rams, whose 'less but better' philosophy influenced everything from kitchen appliances to audio equipment. Today, Braun's manufacturing strategy is globally distributed; while its high-end shavers and epilators are still famously 'Made in Germany' at its Kronberg facility, many other product lines are manufactured in China and other international hubs.

The ownership of the Braun brand is unique and split between two global conglomerates. Procter & Gamble (P&G) owns the rights to Braun's grooming and personal care divisions, including shavers and hair care. In contrast, the De'Longhi Group acquired a perpetual license to use the Braun brand for small household appliances like blenders and irons in 2012. This dual-ownership structure allows the brand to maintain its presence in diverse market sectors under the guidance of two industry leaders.
