Radicchio di Chioggia

Radicchio di Chioggia is a traditional Italian chicory variety, often referred to as the 'Rose of Chioggia' due to its beautiful round shape and vibrant deep-red leaves with white veins. Originally cultivated in the Venetian lagoon area, specifically around the town of Chioggia, it is a hallmark of Italian agriculture.

This vegetable is a natural product of Italian botanical heritage and is not owned by a single corporation but is celebrated as a regional specialty. Many producers in the Veneto region have achieved Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status, ensuring that the cultivation methods and geographic origin remain authentic to the Italian tradition. Harvesting typically occurs in two cycles, early and late, providing fresh produce for both internal Italian consumption and international export.
