Auchentoshan is a celebrated Lowland single malt Scotch whisky distillery located at the foot of the Kilpatrick Hills on the outskirts of Glasgow. Established in 1823 by Thorne and Anderson, the brand is famously known for its unique triple distillation process, which is uncommon in Scotch whisky production and results in a lighter, smoother, and more delicate spirit compared to the double-distilled malts of the Highlands or Islay.
The 'Three Wood' expression is a cornerstone of their range, matured in three different cask types: American Bourbon, Spanish Oloroso Sherry, and Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks. This aging process provides a complex profile of fruit, butterscotch, and hazelnut. The manufacturing and aging processes take place entirely in Scotland to adhere to the strict legal regulations defining Scotch whisky.
Today, the brand is owned by Beam Suntory, a multinational spirits company formed through the 2014 acquisition of Beam Inc. by the Japanese beverage giant Suntory Holdings. The brand serves as a premium representative of the Lowland style within Suntory's extensive global portfolio of spirits.
