LAKRIDS BY BÜLOW is a luxury Danish confectionery brand that revolutionized the candy market by introducing chocolate-coated liquorice. The brand was founded in 2007 by Johan Bülow on the Danish island of Bornholm, where he spent months perfecting the recipe in his mother's kitchen. Today, the company is recognized for its high-end ingredients, sustainable B Corp certification, and minimalist Nordic packaging.

The entire production process remains centralized in Denmark, with all liquorice crafted at a modern 4,200 m² factory located just outside Copenhagen in Hvidovre. While the brand initially started as a local artisanal venture, it has expanded into a global powerhouse with a presence in over 35 countries. In late 2025, the brand underwent a significant ownership change as the Chinese private equity firm IDG Capital acquired a majority stake to fuel further international growth across Asia and the United States.
