Garofalo is a historic premium pasta brand originating from Gragnano, Italy, a town renowned for its centuries-old pasta-making tradition. Established in 1789, the company became the first officially licensed pasta factory in Gragnano. The brand is celebrated for its high-quality dry pasta, often produced with bronze dies and carrying the Protected Geographical Indication (IGP) status, which guarantees production within the Gragnano region following traditional methods.
In terms of ownership, Garofalo underwent a significant change in 2014 when Ebro Foods, a Spanish multinational food group, acquired a majority stake (initially 52%). Today, Garofalo is an integral part of the Ebro Foods portfolio, benefiting from a global distribution network while maintaining its specialized production facilities in Italy. The brand remains a symbol of Italian culinary heritage, blending historical artisanal roots with modern corporate scale under Spanish ownership.
