Madrid Lager is the flagship product of Cervezas La Virgen, a brand founded in 2011 by young entrepreneurs in the town of Las Rozas, just outside Madrid. The beer is known for its traditional bottom-fermentation process and high-quality natural ingredients, embodying the spirit of artisanal brewing within the Spanish capital. It is brewed following the purity law, resulting in a clean, refreshing taste that has garnered significant local popularity.

Historically, the brand grew from a small craft operation into a prominent player in the Spanish craft beer scene. Its success led to its acquisition by AB InBev, the world's largest brewing company. However, in early 2024, AB InBev announced the closure of the La Virgen production facility and the cessation of the brand's commercial activity due to regulatory and licensing issues with their brewery in Madrid. While the brand is currently inactive in terms of new production, it remains under the legal ownership umbrella of Anheuser-Busch InBev.
