Originally developed by the French company Georgia-Pacific France (formerly part of the Beghin-Say group), the brand's ownership shifted significantly over the years. In 2012, the brand was acquired by SCA (Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget), a Swedish multinational. In 2017, SCA spun off its hygiene and health operations into a new company called Essity. Today, Essity is the ultimate owner of the Lotus brand, maintaining headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden. Manufacturing occurs across multiple European facilities to serve local markets effectively.
