Samsung Knox security platform

Samsung Knox is a multi-layered security suite built into Samsung mobile devices. Originally introduced at MWC 2013, it was developed by Samsung Electronics to address the growing security needs of enterprise customers using Android devices. Unlike traditional software, Knox and its components are 'anchored' in the hardware during the manufacturing process, providing root-of-trust from the chipset up to the application layer.

The platform's development and primary infrastructure are centered in South Korea, though it is managed through global data centers to support its worldwide user base. It has evolved from a simple containerization tool into a full suite of management and security solutions, including Knox Suite and cloud-based MDM services. It is an integral part of Samsung's ecosystem and remains under the full ownership and management of the parent company.
