Chris' Foods is an iconic Australian brand that has been a staple in the chilled food market for over four decades. Founded in 1982 by Christos Tassios, the company began as a small family operation in the Melbourne suburb of Fitzroy. Christos initially crafted his signature Greek-inspired dips, such as Caviar (Taramosalata) and Hommus, using traditional recipes from his heritage.
Today, the brand is widely recognized for its diverse range of products, including its popular terracotta pot specialty range and its classic heritage dip line. Manufacturing is focused in a state-of-the-art facility in Thomastown, Victoria, maintaining a strong commitment to local Australian production and quality ingredients.
While many successful food brands are eventually acquired by global conglomerates, Chris' Foods remains uniquely independent. As of 2024, it continues to be family-owned and operated by the Tassios family, preserving the craftsmanship and individual brand identity that Christos established in the early eighties.
