Chapman's is a staple of Canadian culture, founded in 1973 by David and Penny Chapman. The brand began in Markdale, Ontario, when the couple purchased the Creamery and started producing high-quality ice cream. Over the decades, Chapman's has grown into the largest independent ice cream manufacturer in Canada, known for its commitment to high-quality ingredients and its resilience, notably rebuilding its entire facility after a devastating fire in 2009.
Every tub of Chapman's ice cream, including the Super Premium Plus line, is produced in Markdale, Ontario. The company takes pride in using 100% Canadian dairy, supporting local farmers across the country. The "Super Premium Plus" line specifically targets the gourmet market, featuring lower overrun and higher butterfat content for a richer, denser texture compared to standard offerings.
Unlike many global competitors that have been acquired by multinational conglomerates, Chapman's remains a proudly family-owned and operated Canadian business. Ownership has transitioned to the next generation, with Ashley Chapman leading the company. This independence allows them to maintain a strong focus on community involvement and product innovation tailored specifically to the Canadian palate.
