Life Savers is an iconic American brand of ring-shaped hard and gummy candies. The brand was originally created by Clarence Crane in Ohio back in 1912 as a 'summer candy' that could withstand heat better than chocolate. The name and shape were inspired by the life preservers used on boats. Over the decades, the brand has expanded from the original Pep-O-Mint flavor to include the legendary Five Flavor rolls and a wide variety of gummy products.

Today, the manufacturing of Life Savers largely occurs in Montreal, Canada, after the primary production facilities moved from the United States in the early 2000s. The brand has been owned by several major food conglomerates over the years, including Nabisco and Kraft Foods, before finding its current home within the Mars, Incorporated portfolio. As part of the Mars Wrigley division, Life Savers remains one of the most recognizable candy brands globally, maintained by a company with deep roots in the global snack and confectionery industry.
