Louis Roederer Champagne

Louis Roederer is one of the most prestigious Champagne houses, famous for producing the iconic 'Cristal' cuvée. Unlike many other large Champagne houses that are part of multinational luxury conglomerates, Louis Roederer remains an independent, family-owned business, which allows it to maintain a strictly quality-focused approach to production.

The history of the house dates back to 1776, but it gained its current name in 1833 when Louis Roederer inherited the company. One of its most historical milestones occurred in 1876 when Tsar Alexander II of Russia commissioned the creation of Cristal, requested in clear lead-glass flat-bottomed bottles to prevent assassins from hiding explosives inside. Today, the brand is managed by Frédéric Rouzaud, a seventh-generation descendant of the founder, and it remains based in Reims, France, where all of its products are meticulously crafted.
