Pago de los Capellanes is a prestigious winery located in the heart of the Ribera del Duero region in Spain. Founded in 1996 by the Rodero-Villa family, the brand has quickly established itself as a benchmark for quality Spanish viticulture. This specific bottle, the Joven Roble 2023, is a hallmark of the estate's ability to produce vibrant yet structured wines.
The wine is produced entirely on the family's estate in Pedrosa de Duero, Burgos. It is crafted from 100% Tempranillo grapes, known locally as Tinto Fino. The manufacturing process adheres to the strict regulations of the Ribera del Duero Denominación de Origen (DO), ensuring that the bottling and aging take place on-site to preserve the integrity and heritage of the vineyard.
Ownership remains entirely within the founding family through their company, Pago de los Capellanes S.A. Unlike many large-scale wine producers that have been acquired by international conglomerates, Pago de los Capellanes maintains its independence, focusing on sustainable practices and family-led winemaking traditions. This commitment to their roots allows them to maintain a consistent style that reflects the unique terroir of their historic land, which was once owned by the chaplains (Capellanes) of the local parish.
