Metabo is a prestigious name in the power tool industry, with its heritage dating back to the 1920s in Nürtingen, Germany. The brand gained its name from the first metal drill (MP: 'Metallbohrdreher') produced by its founder, Albrecht Schnizler. Today, Metabo is highly regarded for professional-grade tools, particularly its cordless systems based on the Cordless Alliance System (CAS) technology.
While the company remains deeply rooted in German engineering and maintains its main production site in Nürtingen, it operates globally as part of the Koki Holdings group. Production is concentrated in Germany for high-end professional tools, but manufacturing also takes place in modern facilities in Shanghai, China, to serve international markets. The ownership has transitioned from founders to private equity and finally to its current industrial holding parent company based in Japan.
