Wickbold is one of Brazil's most iconic baking brands, founded in 1938 by Henrique Wickbold, a German immigrant who brought European baking traditions to São Paulo. The company is credited with introducing the first whole-grain sliced bread to the Brazilian market in the 1970s, fundamentally changing the country's consumption habits toward healthier options.

For nearly nine decades, Wickbold remained a family-owned enterprise, growing into a market leader with several production plants across Brazil, including facilities in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Minas Gerais. In a major industry shift in 2024, the global snacks and bakery giant Grupo Bimbo reached an agreement to acquire Wickbold. This acquisition allows the Mexican multinational to consolidate its position in the Brazilian market by integrating Wickbold's premium product portfolio and extensive local distribution network.
