Morrisons is a major British supermarket chain that offers a vast range of private label products under its own name. The history of the brand dates back to 1899 when William Morrison founded a market stall in Bradford. Over the decades, it grew into one of the 'Big Four' supermarkets in the United Kingdom, distinguishing itself by owning a significant portion of its own food production and supply chain, including farms and manufacturing sites across the UK.
In late 2021, Morrisons underwent a significant ownership change when it was acquired by the American private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R). Despite this change in high-level ownership, the company remains headquartered in Bradford and continues to produce the majority of its fresh goods domestically in Britain. Its private label range covers everything from basic 'Savers' items to premium 'The Best' selections, maintaining a strong identity as a vertically integrated British retailer.
