Lancôme is a globally recognized luxury beauty brand that has become a symbol of French elegance and sophistication. Founded in 1935 by Armand Petitjean, the brand was named after the ruins of the castle Le Château de Lancosme, while the iconic rose emblem was inspired by the roses growing around the site. From its inception, the brand aimed to deliver French excellence through high-end fragrances and cosmetics.
While Lancôme remains deeply rooted in its French heritage, its production and reach have expanded significantly. A vast majority of its high-end formulations and luxury fragrances are still manufactured in France, particularly at dedicated facilities like the 'Domaine de la Rose' in Provence. However, as a global powerhouse, it also utilizes strategic manufacturing facilities in other regions to meet international demand.
Since 1964, Lancôme has been a part of the L'Oréal Group's Luxury Division. This acquisition allowed the brand to scale globally while benefiting from L'Oréal's extensive research and innovation laboratories. Today, Lancôme continues to lead the premium beauty market, owned and managed by L'Oréal from their world headquarters in Paris, France.
