Côte d'Or is one of the most iconic Belgian chocolate brands, founded in 1883 by Charles Neuhaus. The name, which translates to 'Gold Coast,' refers to the region that is now Ghana, the source of its original cocoa beans. Known for its intense and powerful chocolate flavor, the brand has become a staple of Belgian heritage. Over the decades, it has expanded its range from classic bars to pralines and specialized varieties like this milk chocolate with hazelnut.

While the brand maintains its Belgian roots and a significant portion of production remains at the Halle factory in Belgium, it has transitioned through several owners. Originally a family-owned Belgian company, it was acquired by Jacobs Suchard in the late 1980s, which later became part of Kraft Foods. Today, Côte d'Or is owned by Mondelēz International, a global leader in snacks and confectionery based in the United States. Despite its global ownership, it is still widely regarded as a premium representative of Belgian chocolate traditions.
