Tony's Chocolonely is a Dutch brand recognized for its vibrant packaging and mission to end modern slavery in the cocoa industry. Founded in 2005 by journalist Teun van de Keuken (Tony) in Amsterdam, the brand was a direct response to his investigation into illegal child labor on West African cocoa farms. The iconic unequal division of the chocolate bar reflects the inherent inequality in the chocolate supply chain.
While the brand's headquarters and heart remain in Amsterdam, the manufacturing of the chocolate bars primarily takes place at the Alprose factory in Switzerland or Kim's Chocolates in Belgium. This specific milk hazelnut variety is part of their classic range. The brand is currently majority-owned by a group of investors led by Verlinvest and JamJar, maintaining its independence from major global food conglomerates while expanding its reach globally.
