Ovomaltine, known as Ovaltine in many English-speaking regions, is a iconic beverage brand that originated in Switzerland. It was first developed in 1904 by chemist Dr. Albert Wander in Bern. The formula was originally intended as a nutritional supplement consisting of malt extract, milk, and eggs. Since its inception, Ovomaltine has become a household staple across Europe and eventually the world, celebrated for its unique malted flavor and energy-boosting properties.

The manufacturing of the 'Original' version shown in the image primarily takes place in Switzerland at the Wander production facility in Neuenegg. This facility supplies not just the Swiss market but also exports to various European countries, ensuring the product maintains its traditional recipe and quality standards. While other variations and regional branding exist globally, the Swiss heritage remains the core of the brand identity.

In terms of ownership, the brand's history saw it pass through the hands of Sandoz (later Novartis) before being acquired in 2002 by Associated British Foods (ABF). Today, Wander AG, which operates as a subsidiary of Associated British Foods, manages the brand from its headquarters in Switzerland. ABF is a multinational food processing and retailing company based in the United Kingdom, which oversees a vast portfolio of global food brands.
