Albert Heijn White Asparagus

The white asparagus shown in the glass jar is a private-label product of the Dutch supermarket chain Albert Heijn. White asparagus is a seasonal delicacy often referred to as 'white gold'. Since fresh white asparagus is primarily available in the spring, preserved versions in jars allow for year-round consumption. These products are typically sourced from countries with high production capacity for asparagus, such as Peru or China, even though the supermarket is Dutch.

Albert Heijn (AH) is the most prominent supermarket group in the Netherlands. Its origins date back to 1887 when Albert Heijn Senior took over a small grocery store in Oostzaan. Over the decades, it expanded into a massive retail empire.
