Singer is a household name famously associated with the invention of the sewing machine. Founded in 1851 by Isaac Merritt Singer in the United States, the brand revolutionized home garment making. Over the decades, the brand expanded its product line to include garment care accessories like this electric fabric shaver (leva pelucchi).
While the brand has deep American roots, its modern manufacturing for small electronic appliances is primarily based in China to leverage global supply chains. Since 2004, the Singer brand has been part of SVP Worldwide, a global conglomerate that also owns Viking and Pfaff. SVP Worldwide is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, and since 2021 has been under the ownership of Platinum Equity, a private equity firm based in Los Angeles.
