Old Speckled Hen is a renowned English pale ale with a rich history dating back to 1979. It was originally brewed by Morland & Co. to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the MG car factory in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. The beer's name is actually a tribute to an old MG factory work car, a canvas-covered saloon that was often used for errands and became known as the 'Owld Speckl'd Un' due to its speckled appearance from paint splatters. In 2000, the brand was acquired by the Greene King brewery, one of the UK’s largest pub and brewing companies.

Today, the beer is primarily brewed in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, England. It remains a staple of British brewing culture, exported globally and recognized for its distinctive malty flavor and smoothing qualities. The brand is now part of the extensive portfolio of Greene King, which itself was acquired by CK Asset Holdings in 2019, marking its transition to international ownership while maintaining its traditional British production roots.
