The Sheaffer PFM (Pen For Men) is a legendary writing instrument introduced in 1959. It is most famous for its 'Inlaid Nib' and the innovative 'Snorkel' filling mechanism, which allows the pen to be filled without dipping the nib directly into ink. This specific model features a thick profile, designed to appeal to men at a time when larger pens were becoming fashionable.

Originally founded in Fort Madison, Iowa, Sheaffer became a symbol of American craftsmanship. While production was historically centered in the USA, the brand went through several ownership changes. Today, it is owned by the Indian-headquartered company William Penn, which acquired the brand from the A.T. Cross Company. Manufacturing for modern Sheaffer products has largely shifted to global facilities, although the vintage PFM shown here is a classic American-made staple of the mid-20th century.
