Baccarat is one of the world's most prestigious luxury brands, specializing in fine crystal. The company's origins date back to 1764 when King Louis XV of France granted Prince Bishop Cardinal Louis-Joseph de Laval-Montmorency permission to found a glassworks in the town of Baccarat, Lorraine. Since its inception, the brand has been synonymous with exceptional craftsmanship and royal patronage, serving monarchs and heads of state across the globe.

Historically, the manufacturing process remains centered in the Lorraine region of France, where master artisans continue to produce high-end stemware, lighting, and decorative items. The brand is famous for its 'Harcourt' design and its signature ruby red crystal, created by fusing gold powder into the molten lead crystal at high temperatures.

In recent years, the ownership of Baccarat has shifted through several international investment groups. After being owned by the American firm Starwood Capital Group and later a Chinese investment consortium, the brand was acquired by a group of international investment funds (including Torquest Partners and Investindustrial) in the early 2020s to ensure its continued growth and preservation of French artisanal heritage.
