Irma is a legendary Danish retail brand, originally founded in 1886 by Carl Schepler in Copenhagen as a small egg shop. It grew to become one of the world's oldest grocery chains, known for high quality and its iconic 'Irma Girl' logo. The Brioche Burger Buns displayed are part of Irma's premium private-label range, characterized by their rich flavor and sesame topping.
Historically, Irma operated as an independent cooperative-style chain until it was acquired by FDB (now Coop Danmark) in 1982. In 2023, Coop Danmark announced the closure of Irma as a standalone chain to consolidate its stores into the Coop brand. However, the 'Irma' brand name lives on as a premium product line found in Coop stores across Denmark. Most bakery products under this brand are manufactured by local Danish suppliers or regional European bakeries specializing in brioche dough.
