HP (Houses of Parliament) Sauce is an iconic British brand originally created by Frederick Gibson Garton in Nottingham, England, in 1895. While most famous for its brown sauce, the brand also produces a variety of other condiments including tomato ketchup.
Historically, HP products were manufactured at the famous Aston Cross factory in Birmingham, United Kingdom. However, following the acquisition of the brand by the H.J. Heinz Company, production was controversially moved. Today, HP Tomato Ketchup and the flagship brown sauce are primarily manufactured in the Netherlands.
The brand has undergone several ownership changes over the decades. It was owned by Imperial Foods and later Danone before being purchased by Heinz in 2005. Following the 2015 merger of Kraft and Heinz, the brand is now part of the Kraft Heinz Company portfolio, making it a key asset for one of the world's largest food and beverage organizations headquartered in the United States.
