Clarks is a renowned British heritage brand with a history dating back to 1825. Founded by brothers Cyrus and James Clark in Street, Somerset, the company initially gained fame for creating slippers made of sheepskin off-cuts. Over nearly two centuries, it grew into a global leader in footwear, recognized for its iconic designs like the Desert Boot and its commitment to foot health and comfort.
While the brand maintains its creative roots in the United Kingdom, its manufacturing operations have transitioned globally to optimize production. Today, the majority of Clarks products are manufactured in countries such as China, Vietnam, and India. Historically a family-owned business, the brand underwent a significant ownership change in 2021 when LionRock Capital, a Hong Kong-based private equity firm, acquired a majority stake in the company to support its international expansion and digital growth strategies.
