Founded in Hamburg, Germany, in 1962, Tom Tailor began as a simple importer of toweling products before evolving into one of Europe's most recognizable lifestyle brands. The brand is synonymous with casual, high-quality everyday fashion, catering to men, women, and children through its various collections and sub-brands like Tom Tailor Denim.
While the brand's design and corporate roots are firmly planted in Germany, its manufacturing is distributed globally. Like most major apparel retailers, Tom Tailor utilizes a vast network of suppliers, primarily located in textile hubs such as Bangladesh, China, Turkey, and India. This allow the company to maintain its position in the mid-range fashion segment.
Ownership of the brand has seen significant shifts in recent years. After a period of financial restructuring, the Fosun Fashion Group (part of the Chinese conglomerate Fosun International) took full control of the company. In 2026 and beyond, Tom Tailor continues to operate as a key asset within this global investment framework, being managed under the umbrella of Lanvin Group, which is headquartered in China but listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
