SWM (Sviluppo Veicoli Meccanici) is a historic Italian motorcycle brand originally founded in 1971. Known for its success in trial and enduro competitions during the 1970s and 1980s, the brand became legendary among off-road enthusiasts before ceasing operations in 1984.
In 2014, the brand was resurrected through a partnership between Italian engineer Ampelio Macchi and the Chinese automotive giant Shineray Group. The company established its headquarters and manufacturing facility in Biandronno, Italy, utilizing the former Husqvarna factory. Today, SWM combines Italian design and engineering with the industrial backing of its Chinese ownership, producing a range of motorcycles that include classic scramblers and modern nakeds, primarily manufactured in Italy for the global market.
