Philips, originally known as Koninklijke Philips N.V., is a pioneering Dutch multinational conglomerate that has undergone significant transformation over the last century. Founded in 1891 in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, it initially focused on the production of carbon-filament lamps before expanding into an vast array of electronics, small appliances, and household goods. Today, the brand is primarily focused on health technology, encompassing both professional medical imaging systems and consumer-facing personal care products such as electric toothbrushes and shavers.

While the brand's heritage is deeply rooted in the Netherlands, its manufacturing footprint is global. Large-scale production facilities are located in China, Hungary, Poland, and Brazil, while high-tech medical systems continue to be designed and manufactured in the United States and the Netherlands. The company has famously divested its television and audio sectors to TPV Technology and Gibson Brands respectively, as well as its lighting business (now known as Signify), to sharpen its focus on integrated healthcare solutions.

Following its strategic shift in 2016, the health technology division became the company’s core identity. The ultimate owner company remains the public limited company headquartered in Amsterdam. As a global leader, Philips continues to manage a complex web of subsidiaries and regional entities to facilitate distribution and local manufacturing in over 100 countries.
