Novaluzid is a well-known over-the-counter antacid brand used for treating heartburn and acid reflux. The brand was originally developed and popularized by Astra, a Swedish pharmaceutical giant founded in Södertälje. Following the merger of Astra and the British company Zeneca in 1999, the brand was under AstraZeneca's umbrella for many years.
In recent corporate shifts, the brand transitioned to Viatris, a global healthcare company formed in 2020 through the combination of Mylan and Upjohn (a former Pfizer division). Manufacturing for such pharmaceutical products often occurs in various certified facilities across Europe and North America to serve different regional markets. Currently, Viatris manages the production and distribution of Novaluzid, maintaining its strong presence in the Scandinavian market where it originated.
