Tropicana is one of the world's most recognizable juice brands, famously established in 1947 by Anthony T. Rossi in Bradenton, Florida. Rossi, an Italian immigrant, revolutionized the industry by developing a flash pasteurization process that allowed chilled orange juice to be shipped over long distances without losing its fresh taste.
While the brand was a long-term staple of the PepsiCo portfolio for over two decades, its ownership underwent a significant change in 2022. PepsiCo sold a 60% majority stake in its juice brands, including Tropicana and Naked, to PAI Partners, a private equity firm. The current joint venture is known as Tropicana Brands Group.
Manufacturing typically occurs close to the markets where the product is sold to ensure freshness. For the European market, juice is often processed in plants in countries like Belgium or France, while North American supplies are primarily sourced and packaged in Florida.
