Explorer Vodka is a quintessentially Swedish brand, originally developed by the Swedish state-owned monopoly Vin & Sprit (V&S) in 1958. It was specifically crafted with the international market in mind, featuring the iconic Viking ship logo designed by Sigvard Bernadotte, a member of the Swedish royal family. Despite its Swedish heritage and branding, the production was moved to Finland following corporate acquisitions.
Today, the brand is owned by Anora Group, which was formed through the merger of Altia and Arcus. Anora Group is headquartered in Helsinki, Finland. While the brand remains a staple in the Swedish market and maintains its cultural identity as a Swedish classic, the actual distillation and bottling primarily take place at the Rajamäki distillery in Finland. This transition reflects the consolidation of the Nordic spirits industry over the past few decades.
