While famously associated with the French company Sanofi, the brand is undergoing a significant transition. Sanofi has reached an agreement to sell a majority stake in Opella, its consumer healthcare business which includes Doliprane, to the American private equity firm CD&R. This move, discussed heavily in 2024 and 2025, marks a shift in the brand's ultimate ownership from a French pharmaceutical giant to a US-based investment firm, although French state investment via Bpifrance is expected to retain a minority share to ensure domestic supply security.
