The Hyundai IONIQ 5 is a fully electric compact crossover SUV that represents a significant milestone in modern automotive engineering. Launched in 2021 as the first model under Hyundai's dedicated IONIQ battery electric vehicle brand, it is built upon the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which allows for ultra-fast 800-volt charging and a spacious interior design. The vehicle's 'Parametric Pixel' design language has won numerous international awards, including World Car of the Year.

While the brand is deeply rooted in South Korean industrial heritage, the manufacturing of the IONIQ 5 is globally distributed. The primary production hub remains the Ulsan plant in South Korea, but to meet global demand and qualify for local incentives, Hyundai has expanded production to Bekasi (Indonesia), a specialized highly automated facility in Singapore, and the 'Metaplant' in Georgia, USA. This global footprint ensures that the IONIQ 5 can serve various international markets with reduced logistical overhead and local economic integration.

Hyundai Motor Company, the ultimate owner, has transformed from a traditional internal combustion engine manufacturer into a leader in the 'Smart Mobility Solution Provider' space. Since its founding in 1967, Hyundai has grown to become part of the Hyundai Motor Group, which also includes Kia and Genesis. The company remains headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, and continues to invest heavily in robotics and hydrogen technology alongside its IONIQ electric lineup.
