Porto Cruz is one of the world's leading brands of Port wine, with roots dating back to 1887. The brand originated in Portugal through the company Assumpçao Gazul. Today, the wine is produced in the Douro Valley, the oldest demarked wine region in the world, and matured in Vila Nova de Gaia.

The brand is currently owned by the French company La Martiniquaise, an independent spirits group. This ownership provides the brand with a massive international distribution network while maintaining traditional Portuguese production methods.
